Cozy, homemade, and rustic are just a few words that come to mind when I think of Mason Jar. This gem is located in Eagan about 25 minutes south of Minneapolis. I have visited this restaurant a handful of times and it continues to fill my craving for homemade comfort food. On top of having a from scratch menu and delicious meals they are attached to Cupcake, a bakery that won Cupcake Wars on Food Network. It just all around wins at being a restaurant.
They offer weekday breakfast and lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. If you are someone who really loves breakfast I recommend heading there on the weekend. Their weekend brunch menu offers a couple dishes that are not offered during the week. Calling ahead on a Saturday or Sunday for brunch is a good idea. Nothing sounds better than Strawberry French Toast and a Mimosa on a Sunday am I right?
If breakfast isn’t your thing then check out their lunch and dinner menus. The lunch menu offers a variety of sandwiches and pizzas that are cooked in their stone fire oven. Also there is hot dishes and pot pies which are my all time favorite. Nothing beats a hot dish cooked in their oven and presented in a cast iron skillet. When dinner time hits their menu expands even more. Offering starters, flatbreads, entrees and steaks and desserts while still serving sandwiches, hot dishes and pot pies. Some star plates include Tater Tot Hot Dish, Gorgonzola crusted Filet Mignon, and Almond Crusted Walleye. Don’t forget to add on a carefully crafted cocktail to your meal like their Old Fashioned.
On your way out with a full stomach and happy heart don’t forget to stop by Cupcake and bring home a dozen cupcakes or many of the other desserts they offer. My favorite is the Black Bottom Cupcake it is a chocolate cupcake with cream cheese batter baked into it. In other words heaven in your mouth. When visiting Mason Jar you will leave happy and full of homemade food and cupcakes.
